As an insurance brokerage executive, equipped with an MBA, as well as a law degree, Mr. Martin has gained yet an even greater industry perspective through his executive, operational, broking, and hands on account management roles. Mr. Martin was most recently Executive Vice President and Director of Strategic Initiatives for Regions Insurance Group. In this position he was responsible for revenue growth and account retention strategies for Regions Insurance Group and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities included: identification and implementation of new business strategies; development and design of business processes (including sales, marketing, accounting, information technology, and insurance brokerage operations); development and implementation of cross-sell strategies with other Regions Financial Corporation subsidiaries (including Regions Bank and Morgan Keegan); and overseeing merger and acquisition activity, to include identification of M&A opportunities, management of the due diligence process, and integration into Regions Insurance Group. He was also responsible for developing and maintaining insurance company relationships at an executive level. Mr. Martin joined Regions Insurance Group from USI Southwest’s Austin, Texas, office where he was President. Prior to that, he was an Executive Vice President with Summit Global Partners, heading its Austin and Houston, Texas operations. Before joining Summit Global Partners, he was a Managing Director and Senior Vice President at Aon Risk Services, where he co-led its National Healthcare Practice, and managed its Risk Management Practice and Risk Management Consulting Services in Baltimore, Maryland.

Contemporaneously with those other duties, he also managed one of Aon’s largest US retail customer relationships. Preceding this experience, Mr. Martin managed Sedgwick’s Nashville, Tennessee office, and served as corporate and chief litigation counsel for Sedgwick’s North American operations. He began his insurance brokerage and legal careers as corporate counsel for Alexander & Alexander. Mr. Martin received his Bachelors Degree from Centre College of Kentucky, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland. Between graduating from college and beginning his legal studies, he served as a Captain in the United States Army. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and has held property, casualty, life, and health insurance brokerage licenses in a number of states. Mr. Martin currently serves as a member of the Centre College Board of Trustees, where he previously served as president of its Alumni Association.
